First of all, check out Rudy's Jazz and Blues Club in merced. Its a very classy place and Rudy & wife take very good care of you. 2nd of all, my God Daniel, Steve, Mike, and T put on a performance that totally blew away all shows that I have seen in the past!!!! The professionalism of these 4 guys is absolutly incredible, both on and off the stage. I love to walk around and listen to comments from People who have never heard you guys, And Saturday night(5-15-04) was just mind blowing. I don't know how anyone else feels after hearing Daniel work magic on and off the stage, but for me I thank God I have to get on my Harley for the ride home or I would be totally , energetically frustrated. I can blow it all off on my bike and by the time I get home from a gig, I am usually settled down enough to be able to sleep. Daniel, I don't care what anyone else thinks-I AM YOUR#1 FAN- and even though I tend to be a bit biased when it comes to you, your gig Saturday night was absolutely stunning. I am so blessed to know you and the guys and your friendship means the world to me. Keep on crankin those blues out!!! Love always, Lynette

Daniel and pals, Thank you so much for a terrific show at the Saloon last night. It was ladies night out for us four dancin' wild thirty-something women who rarely get to see each other these days it seems. What a treat to spend our special evening with y'all and to feel inspired by the blues! Thanks again and can't wait to see you again at the Torch Club some time soon. Daniel - I just listened to you for the first time on your live CD made at the North Beach Saloon a year ago last night - I grew up in Memphis and Played lead on a '62 Jazzmaster with a twin-ten Jensen Fender tube amp and thru an Echolette tape echo chamber I bought in Germany - I've heard them all and seen most live - Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, Elvis, Johnny Cash, Charlie Rich, BB, and I learned from the Ventures, Hank Marvin of the Shadows, John Lee Hooker, Chuck Berry, Jimmy Reed, Johnny Winter, Beatles, Animals, Stones, et al - all that just to establish a little credibility when I say - you are GREAT and play the kind of music I would play if I had stayed in the game - you definitely make me wish I had - you do the Memphis and New Orleans stuff just like it is supposed to be - I even noticed your echo delay on one of your songs when everyone else was quiet at the beginning (3 or 4 soft, fading ones) - just like I would do it - It looks like the Torch Club is the furtherest East you are going for awhile, but I really want to know when you are ever going to be in New Orleans again - I want a front row seat - I always liked to watch closely - I learned that way years ago - you know, I can walk down Bourbon Street and pass a club or two that sounds like it could be you playing - you do the real stuff and I love it! Your keyboard guy is incredible, too - he's the best - but, then you'd expect a father-in-law to say that, would'nt you! Becky sent me your CD and I'll wear it out, I'm sure - I look forward to meeting you someday - until then, may your success multiply exponentially - Best Regards and God Bless You - Russ

Got an email a few days ago from "fire on the mountain" and I was outraged that Daniel Castro was not on the lineup. So I thought I'd send them an email back expressing my disappointment. A couple of hours later I received another email telling me that Daniel had been added to the lineup. Now I don't know if there were any other fans out there who did the same thing, but I'd like to think that this is the difference one person can make!!!! Love ya Daniel and the guys and I'll see ya August 14th in Sonora. Lynette

This cat Daniel Castro is the real deal. On a Sunday afternoon a couple years ago we walked upstairs into a club in San Francisco to hear some live music. As we walked up to the desk...we asked ourselves if we'd arrived just in time to hear the last tune? Guess what...we did. After we got our cocktails the band said "...thank you all for coming!". No shit!!! Great timing. At exactly the moment we decided to leave I saw this man walk in wearing a beret and carrying a guitar case. We decided to order another round and see how this deal would shake out. I can't tell you that we were glad we did...that wouldn't do this story justice. We were ecstatic. Daniel and his band took over this place. Being a musician myself with a group of other musicians we had a deep appreciation for what he delivered to us that afternoon. I couldn't have planned that afternoon to be any better than it was. Fantastic would be close...but there was more. Daniel left us gasping for more. But all great events draw to a close and we were better for the exposure. Even though I look forward to the next release...I play No Surrender on a regular basis...to such a degree that I've turned several musician friends on to Daniel Castro. We all agree that there's a hint of many of our guitar mentors but I have to add one that many fail to see. I'd have to include Danny Gatton in that list. Intentional or otherwise...Daniel plays, in his own way, with some of the characteristic clarity and chops of Gatton...an acknowledged master of the guitar. Great work!!! Anybody who has an opportunity to catch this man and his band owes it to themselves to make the effort...it is certainly worth it! steve burns

I just bought the 2002 edition of "Blues for a Cure" at a thrift shop for $3.00. There are twelve songs on it so I figure each song is worth 25 cents. I listened to your "I'm Sorry" and darnit, there is no harmonica! You owe me a quarter. Keep trying; you'll get it right one day. If you see Miss Tommy Thonpson, give her a big kiss for me.

Hi Daniel: It was such a pleasure to see you at Lou's; it has been far too long. It really made our Valentine's day complete and we loved the CD. We both agreed that you played even better live on the 14th - very thoughtful and expressive at times. Paula was hoping the blues ballad you dedicated to us would be on the CD but maybe the next one. I've just returned from a place in my mind that resembles a dark, crowded club in North Beach, a place I was transported to by a marvelous new "natural high" drug, a cd called "Daniel Castro Live At The Saloon." And, unfortunately, the best I can offer in payment for this experience is to say "Thank you" to Mr. Castro and his associates...To anyone who reads this, Daniel and Co. are holding the door open, don't hesitate to step in. But just a warning, this drug is addictive, and unlike others, completely satisfying! However, listening to this cd, the next best thing to being there live (as I've had the good fortune to be), you know you are in good hands. Daniel has power, and knows it, but ultimately aims to please, it seems. Again, the best I can say to Daniel and Co is thank you for the music! You've definitely got your mojo working!!! --Scott

What, 5 years now, I've been a fan, follower, groupie, call me what you will, still, from nights at Sherry's to camping under the stars in Stockton on the delta after Scotty ate up the last of my chicken, or just off Cache Creek, it's pretty much been an etheral, eternal experience. Daniel, no matter where I go or what I do, it's you and that amazingly beautiful work that you and your Telecaster do that have not only, honestly, kept me alive in mind, heart, body and soul, but led me on a new path that I'll never, truly, be able to thank you for. I'm the lucky one who's infected, driven, moved by your music. I'm the one who reminds himself at night that it was that random conversation with his mom that led me out to you, so while I listen to your new CD, and "No Surrender", remember, or at least understand, my, simple, yet powerful desire to hand back to you just a little bit of what you've so unselfishly given to me. If I may, you're truly an example of what the rest of us should consider a "humanitarian". Thank you, and God, for your gift, that you've shared with alll of us, Jason Mori

Daniel Castro's New CD, Live at the Saloon -- Where to begin when you know the sound of Daniel Castro and his comrades (who play the 'Blessed Jesus' from their soul to yours) are your past, present and future. Daniel's music makes your spirit soar and your being yearn for your twin soul. Along with his sister Jypsy (her voice a fusion of Janis and Aretha) the CD is more than complete. I loved the CD, love Daniel and want more! Thank you Daniel for sharing your gift. I am enjoying your music immensely!

If you missed the "GUITAR EXTRAVAGANZA"at the State Theater in Modesto October 5th,2003, you missed one of the best Blues lineups the theater has ever had. All of the musicians brought something special to the stage, and that place was BLUES HEAVEN!!!!!!! Thanks John Black and Uncle Spot for being so passionate about the blues. You have been very instrumental in making this area "THE BLUES CAPITAL OF CALIFORNIA". And last but not least, thanks to Daniel Castro for feeling it in his heart and playing it with his soul. Don't miss him at Merced Blues Festival--- october 11-12 at the Merced Courthouse. Daniel will be playing Sunday.See ya there, Lynette

Hi Daniel - I enjoyed your show several weeks ago at the blues bar as Fisherman's Wharf in San Franicso. I was with my two sisters and we chatted abit about how Indians and Mexican have the same views on death and the journey to the other side. Anyway, I loved the rhinestone belt bucket guitar strap you were wearing and I'd love to get one for my 17 year old son who has his own rock band. Can you tell me who I can contact to purchase this guitar strap (for a Christmas gift)??? I have searched the internet without any luck. Any information you cn give me would be appreciated. Hope to see you at the Waterfront Blues Festival next July on Portland, OR. Take Care.

Hello to all. What a great time I had at The Flamingo in Santa Rosa the other night. I went by myself because i am from southern California and was on vacation alone but it didn't matter......I still had a blast, in fact I think I danced to all but 2 songs.......... I even danced with one man that kept spinning and twirling me around (I felt like a ballerina out there). You guys were AWESOME and all I can say is "How about comin' down south so us southlanders can have the pleasure of hearin you live more often?". Ya'all take care now........ Karena

Dear Daniel and Band: Proverbs 3:27 says "Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in the power of your hand to do so." It is within my power to compliment you guys on your incredible performance 8/20/03 at the Galleria at Roseville, CA. I have to admit I'm not a jazz connesieur (?) but my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed your performance. We also think you are quite a character and by yourself are pretty entertaining :) Keep up the good work and word. May the Lord bless you and keep you and cause His face to shine upon you. May He be gracious to you and grant you peace.

Hey Big Brother, The show at JJ'S last night was really cool and I enjoyed hangin' with you and the boys. I hope that someday San Jose wakes up and smells the musicianship of The Daniel Castro Band. Thanks for playing the request that were being fired at you from the die hards. And also, you know, we are usually pretty beat up after giggin' all night, to be jumping into other peoples altercations. Granted it is on very rare occasions that people go off on one another at a Daniel Castro Show cause that is not what you,the band, and all of your great fans are all about. Hey by the way Summer Slam is next week. I think I will call Vince Mcmahon and see about settin' up a jukebox match. With special guest referee Armen. Love Ya My 'Bro, Scotty

Daniel and his band totally took control of Louie's in Turlock last night and from his rockin tunes to his Stirring "I'll Play The Blues", he once again mesmorized myself and my friends. This is one band that you'll want to go see over and over again and if you are a TRUE blues lover, then you will fall in love with their music, their stage presence, and Daniel's magical fingers as they make love to his guitar!!!! It was good for me!!!!!!

Heya Big D! I had an awesome time sittin' in wichya last night @ Lou's. What a BUTT KICKING band you got! ... and that guy with the guitar ain't to shabby either. I'm honored to know you Danny. Mike Matza said something pretty profound the other night ... "Goin' to see Danny is like goin' to church!" Actually, I'm pretty sure he meant that in a good way. Just kidding, I know he did. But I think in a way he's telling the truth, cause you (like few others) play as if it's coming from somewhere holy! Pertaining nothing religious, but still ... I dunno! Seriously powerful stuff you got running through your veins. I got nothing but love for you Danny! Here's to keepin' the music REAL! ... and the BLUES alive!!!! Blessings Brother, Ian

It was a warm San Francisco night Saturday at the Saloon! You guys were hotter than the 4th of July! Loved shakin' my booty to the tunes (as always!), but this time, the party was soooo high! All the regular friends were there, and a lot of out-of-towners, but everyone said you were great. You know what? They are right!!! These are the nights that will live in my memory when I can say "I knew them when", because I know you're going 'way on up there! I'm still waiting breathlessly to get your double cd. What can we say! We saw you back in early March on a weekend get-a-way to S.F. and we STILL have not caught our breath! We happened upon you by accident as we passed an old cigar shop playing your CD. Walked by, listened a bit and said "Whoooa, that is some awesome music.... probably some old forgotten Muddy Waters stuff." Walked on by, and make a quick U-turn to go back and ask what CD it was. And would you believe that it was YOU playing, and the lady told us that you were right now, playing live down the street at Lou's Pier 47. What luck. We stopped by for just a few minutes, stayed 3 hours, and then followed you to Grant & Green for the rest of the wee hours! Have NEVER, ever, seen anybody play with such "fire & desire" like you guys did. You embody so much talent, true love for the blues, and love for all of us who enjoy what you have to share. You are unselfish up on stage, sharing the limelight equally with all of the other great guys: T. Moran & Artist, etc. You balance each other out so well that we have never seen anyone else that can compare with the "magic" you make. The enjoyment that you emit to everyone while performing is contagious-you can not help but smile and shake-it while have the time of your life. The 6 1/2 hour drive home went by in a flash since we had the joy of listening to NO SURRENDER, uninterrupted the entire time. And I actually stayed awake while Danny drove this time! We are working hard to get back up to S.F. to get some more of YOU! Keep it up, you have filled a massive void in the world of Blues! With Love & Admiration, Danny & Sandy :) P.S We brag about you to anybody that stops long enough to listen!! We are beginning to sound like proud parents or something! HELP!

Travelling down to SF from the great fermented valley just north, I walked up Grant St to see the man standing tall. I had just come up from the basement of 101 Records in search of a lost vinyl LP, and raised my hand as I approached. It'd been far too long, and in their own special way that was made clear to me, so I found a wall to support my mind against for a few and waited for the show. I wish I could explain to you the relief my soul recives when I see this band. It had been far too long since I had seen them and the world starts to sound silent if it isn't speaking to me now and then from an Uncle Spot El Guapo amp. Thanks for the few hours of peace, =j

Daniel, My wife and I caught your show on April 20, 2000 at Lou's Pier 47 on our way to Hawaii. Yes, 2000! You hooked us that night and I bought your CD "No Surrender" that night. Ir is autographed! It has been played over and over ever since! It is part of our regular Play list. It is a quality product and you should be proud of it. When is the next one coming out? I must say that night was one of the highlights of the trip. We often talk about it and will definately look you up when we get back to San Fran. How about doing a tour to the east coast! Dear Daniel, Listening to some blues on German radio, the idea struck my mind to check out THE DANIEL CASTRO BAND on the web. I am very glad to see that you play every couple of days some beauty spots in Cal, so it won't be long until I will be able to purchase your cd around the corner. Thank you for being who you are being! Take good care. Juergen

Once again you killed us with the blues! Man what a show. Having Larry Dunn playin' with you was awesome! But then, the capper was the jam you laid down with the bongo man Mr. Escovito(hope I got the name right). That was over the top. I hope the folks at Legends understand how lucky they are to get you and the band out here to Modesto. More important, I hope you have the feel to want to come back again. You are the man! We were able to "baptize" 8 more people into the Castro fan club last night. We'll keep spreadin' the word out here for you. Thanks for the great time. And thank you for remembering my son is the "Mo Jo" man...I told him you had remembered and it confirmed him as your number 1 fan! See you again someday...Keep groovin!

Aloha brah, received your mail today. Unbelieveable that it has been so long since we kick it in Buena Park and Cypress. I have been in Hawaii for 13 years now. I was working for Hawaiian Airlines until late 1994. I am now working at Hawaii Pacific University while I pursue a Master's Degree. It is never too late! Danny, I love it here in Hawaii. Cali will always be home and nobody better talk bad about it, but Hawaii is the place for me! Life here is so mellow. We do have problems like anywhere else but the scale of crime and such is so much lower. Combine that with clean water, air, and green mountains and I will never leave. (god willing) Danny, I am glad we made contact and I will keep in touch. Hopefully I will see you in Buena Park early next year. I am also planning to attend an Oakland Raider game next year. I hope I can see you perform while I am there. Well brah, have a great Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday. See you next year! Your Bro Dave - Go Raiders - Yeah I am still into sports big time

TURLOCK, CA. What a great Radio Show you provided on KCSS fm 91.9mhz Radio, yesterday. It was wonderful to listen to your career history. Many thanks to KCSS, Jeff and Uncle Spot, the show was first class. Your performace Friday night after the two hour broadcast was OUTSTANDING, big BIG BIG sound and CLEAN...... Mike was really ripping on the Hammond, and very cool Bro, to add the big grand piano to your act, that kind of changes everything. Congratulations to AJ, man was he having fun, and ole T sure thumped that pile of subs..... BIG BIG BIG sounds, and the cool dynamics that you were able to slip into the show, had the fans sitting on the edge of their seats. You could have heard a pin drop. Again, Thanks for a wonderful day and evening...... and ya say the next step is LIVE - very cool, live takes are the best ! I will be looking for that one.

JR's mom was babtized in grand style! You have a new fan forever, and I see she even has her own CD now. It was good to visit with you again, and catch you live for a change. I was wondering what you put in the prime rib for AJ ? Was he cooking or what ? and the big bad Hammond for Mike, what a deal, ole Spot is going to corrupt him for sure..... Word of your show at the X-fest is rumbling around our local scene out here, in the marsh land. You boys electrafied the nativies. Better keep up that rate. Hi Daniel, Went to see Charlie Musselwhite in Santa Rosa, had never heard of the opening act, the Daniel Castro Band. After your set I told you that you were better than Hendrix (saw him in Berkeley in '70). I meant it! You and your band were one of the best acts I've ever seen. I'm enjoying your CD now. Give my best to your band, they really did a great job backing you up. Hope you guys get the fame you deserve. -Paul

Hi Danny, I heard you a few weekends ago at the Rooster Roadhouse. You know Ive been to see you many times in Alameda and have been following your career pretty closely in the last 7 years. I even remember lighting the candles for you at the old Driftwood..where I used to sing with Farrell , Art and Rhonda and others..boy those were the days Anyway I loved the show that night , and it set me to dancing Ill be sure to order your CD soon. Your music means a lot to me as there are so few blues sounds going on these days..and it was great to make the musicians connection with you once again ..you always make me smile..look for me at Lous next weekend...Lynda Rose..the mustang sally girl

Hey Danny! I just want you to know the effect you have on my three year old son Austin. He has some major Mojo going on! He will not allow any other CD to be played in Mommy's car. And really we don't want to hear any other. You are awesome, (Austin has nicknamed you the Mojo Man) your blues is the bomb! I can't wait to see you in September, at Pebble Beach. It's gonna be a rockin time! Love, peace and play the blues!

Unfortunately, I've only been able to see Daniel play 2 times in the San Jo area, approximately 9 years ago. I was definately impressed by what I heard & the feeling from his music that touched my soul. I wasn't a Blues fan until I heard him play. I'm really looking forward to May 18th at the Stockton Blues Festival. I can't wait to hear him again & get another CD since mine was stolen years ago (it was nearly worn out too). He plays with all of his heart & created a true Blues fan out of me!

Daniel, So, yes, Paris is a city in love with music, especially American music, but, so far, I haven't found anything that can stop me wishing I were home for just one night now that I see you're at The Saloon tomorrow. There's lots of jazz, but what they really need is for you and the band to get on a plane and come over -- hey, bring Hacker too, you guys will cause more commotion than they've seen here since 1789 at the Bastille. There are plenty of clubs, but, so far, no great Blues. What are you gonna do about this? I genuinely miss you and the music that brought is together as friends quite a few years ago now. Remember the old days at Mission Rock on Friday afternoons? Such was the beginning of your Bay Area conquest -- playing for sweaty Longshoremen and Teamsters looking out on a crumbling relic of a port well past its prime. Anyway, I was just feeling homesick for "I'll Play the Blues for You." You know how I love the slow ones. Say hi to everyone for me and I'll see you in a few months. Where am I driving you to this summer? Let the festivals begin! Oh, by the way, there's a good jazz station here, 89.9, that also plays a lot of Blues. Actually, they don't make much of a distinction between jazz and the Blues here, so you go from John Coltrane to John Lee Hooker seamlessly throughout the day if you're listening to the radio, which I do a lot as I'm working. Anyway, I'm supposed to get your CD hands into the Blues guy at the station next week -- you're about to get Paris airplay! So get your bags packed, get Armen ready go to, and lets book a tour. But remember, No Red Drinks Or Gum On The Airplane!!!! Play well, your friend, Scott

I just for the first time listened to the cd. It kicks ass. I am a drummer myself, and played on the live "Unkihntrollable" cd for Greg Kihn, which kinda featured several musicians,.Jimmy Lyon(Eddie Money/Tina Turner) on guitar, Duane Hitchings(Rod Stewart) on keys, just to name a couple. (I have played with Mark (Jellyroll) I am thoroughly impressed by this cd, and YOU should be too. I would love an opportunity to sit in, or jam with you someday, you're excellent! Thank your sister for me, Tell Kevin he owes me for his birthday present from me, and I'll see you Thursday at the Grant and Green, because, its easier to come and listen and hear the truth than hide away from it. In the longest of nights you've always sent me home with the best of mind, and I wish someday I could stand on a stage and do what you do for me but I know better, and damn if you just don't turn me inside out, and make me feel so incomplete.
